Heading for Extinction (and what to do about it) – Witney
January 24 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
What is the truth about the Climate Emergency and what can we do about it?
The planet is in ecological crisis. We are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction event this planet has experienced. Scientists believe we may have entered a period of abrupt climate breakdown. This is an unprecedented global emergency. Our children and our nation face grave risk. In this public talk, local members of Extinction Rebellion will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change, and offer solutions through the study of social movements. All ages are welcome, but parental discretion is advised if bringing children, as it may not be suitable for them.
This event aims to:
– raise awareness of and tell the truth about the current environmental crisis;
– arm local people with facts they can share with neighbours, friends and family;
– consider what we can do about this in Oxfordshire.
There will be time to ask questions and discuss afterwards. Entry is free but donations towards venue hire costs at the end of the event are welcome (only if you can afford to).
Doors open 7:00 with talk at 7:30. Time after for questions.
