Power Dynamics Workshop
30th November 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Power dynamics and different forms of privilege play out in our groups all the time, often linked to race, class, gender and other aspects of identity. The term ‘power dynamics’ refers to the ever-changing power relationship between people in a group. It explains how some people have a lot of influence over a group without realising it, and how some people feel they have to adapt their behaviour in order to be accepted by the group. It can show up in our groups as who feels most confident to speak, who feels like they belong in the group, whose ideas are listened to, what language is used and who that connects with.
Working on power dynamics in your group can help more people feel empowered and it can help the group grow stronger and be more effective. This workshop is for anyone who would like to gain a deeper understanding of how power and privilege play out within their XR group, how they can address it, create more equality within their group and make their group more welcoming to a greater diversity of people.
Please note it is essential to register for this workshop, as we have a maximum of 16 places.
