Stop Funding Fossil Fuels – Outreach at Barclays Bank Cornmarket

XR Oxford is joining other local groups in the UK during the 7 days beginning April 30 in drawing attention to the ongoing harm being caused by Barclays Bank – the biggest fossil fuel funding bank in Europe – to the Climate and Ecological Crisis. Oxford Rebels are invited to come to Barclays Bank in Cornmarket in Oxford City Centre to protest Barclays continuing investment in fossil fuel companies. Please bring flags and banners and join us as we seek to engage the public with leaflets and invite them to join XR Oxford. This action is part of a UK wide campaign co-ordinated by Money Rebellion during the time when many of the major UK Banks – in particular, Barclays, HSBC and Standard Chartered – will be holding their Annual General Meetings for shareholders. As they report multi billion £ profits to their shareholders, they continue to pursue opportunities to invest in fossil fuels when both the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the International Energy Agency have said that this must stop now!
