XR Oxford G7 Make the Wave Bike Ride and Picnic/Protest

June 12 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Households in Oxford, communities on our coasts, and whole countries in the Global South: all at risk of severe flooding in the near future as our leaders avoid treating the Climate Emergency with the seriousness it requires. Make the Wave is an XR national action asking the G7 leaders to give us more than empty promises.

In Oxford, a wave of cyclists will ride around the city before joining others at Port Meadow for a photo opportunity and protest/picnic. Wear blue/watery colours, or marine-themed fancy dress; bring food and a picnic rug.

Please do not attend if you have had a positive test, have symptoms of Covid or have been asked to isolate by Test and Trace. We will have a risk assessment in place and will be asking people to socially distance.

Venue
Cyclists meet at 14.00 in Radcliffe Square, others (including Samba Band) to gather from 14.30 at the Walton Well Road entrance to Port Meadow, to meet them as they arrive.
