Join us on April 9th

We hope you will join us as we go down to London together for the Rebellion starting on April 9th. We know that we need to act now. The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) pulls no punches. Any further delay “will miss a brief and rapidly closing window of opportunity to secure a liveable and sustainable future for all“. This is the moment. Please don’t be a bystander.

Over the next few weeks, we are upping our game in Oxford so that we can get as many people as possible engaged, prepared, and down to London for the Rebellion on April 9th. There is something for everyone to do, whether you are a seasoned rebel or dipping your toe in for the first time.

If you can’t get to London, there are many ways to support the Rebellion from home. And in the next few weeks we are looking for people to deliver leaflets in their streets, talk to local people at stalls, and build up an awareness of the Rebellion and why it matters.

We have local groups across the city. New rebels are taking their first actions with us every week. 2022 is the year to join them. Contact us here.

XR Theatrics “12 days of Crisis”

Forum Improvisation Theatre and Crisis Carol Singing are coming to Oxford!

XR Theatrics brings the climate crisis centre stage by connecting the present day to the near-future realities predicted if urgent action is not taken.

Will long queues for rations or water become the ‘new normal’? Will Fresh Air ‘Bars’ like the one just opened in Delhi become commonplace?

Governments, WHERE IS YOUR PLAN for dealing with these issues? Issues that other nations already face and are intensifying.

Citizens, WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT as you head to the polling booth? This has the potential to be the most climate-significant vote you cast.

These performances will be an emotionally disturbing look at how we respond to one another in crisis. We ask for empathy. We ask to sign the three demands bill. We ask for the government to be led by a Citizen’s Assembly. Now.

We are part of a tradition. Since before the time of Aeschylus and the religious mysteries, choral ritual remembered to people the nearness of error and crisis. The tragic chorus grieves for the situation the city-state finds itself in and invites the spectator to assist and to grieve with them. Today, we grieve for situations that will occur in our nations, cities and villages if urgent climate action is not taken – and which are already occurring in communities elsewhere – and we invite our audiences to assist and grieve with us. We invite them to act now.
