Oxford Red Rebels on the streets of Oxford
October 5 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The Oxford Red Rebels’ first time out on the streets of Oxford!
This action is to draw attention to the upcoming rebellion in London starting 7th October.
Join the Oxford Red Rebels at the Radcliffe Camera, High Street, Carfax, and Queen Street.
Come and follow us as we process, and support XR by leafleting, and talking to people about the international rebellion – As Red Rebels, our silence is a big part of our power, so we need you to be our voice for us!
Please note: leafleting and dialoguing should ideally happen behind the Red Rebels, rather than in front, so as to optimise the initial visual impact.
You are very welcome to also take photos and videos and feed them back to us.
What are Red Rebels?
There are now branches of XR Red Rebels in many towns and cities around Britain and indeed around the world.
The striking red colour of their clothing represents the blood of all those sentient beings who have died as the result of climate change as well as all those who will die in the future…
The Red Rebels are making a silent protest to draw attention to the extremely serious issues of the climate emergency. The slow mime of their actions is truly mesmerising and holds a space for the deep emotions of grief, despair, hope, joy, love that we all feel…
Watching their slow, silent progress along the streets and seeing their extraordinary tableaux, is an invitation to stop and think, to reflect, to become immersed in their peaceful, compassionate empathy for our world.
With Love and Gratitude
